Awakening to Energy |
Revised Jan 2008 |
|
An Introduction to SkyDancing Tantra™ Led by Robert, or by Robert and Marta |
| This a flexible 2-day workshop, designed for touring to a variety of locations. It is designed to give you experience of the fundamental energetics of tantra. It is an ideal introductory weekend for people going on to explore our Transformation workshops. It is also a good workshop to revisit -- the exercises and structures we teach are for taking into your life, and practicing regularly, as you would practice yoga or t'ai chi -- so though suitable for beginners, it is also useful for anyone at any level who is committed to the tantric path as a way of life. |
| Tantra discovered thousands of years ago the principle that Wilheim Reich rediscovered in the early 20th century: that our sexual energy is our powerhouse, the source of our aliveness. Tantra teaches us how to nourish and celebrate our sexual energy in ways which bring greater wholeness into our lives. Tantra has the power to transform the quality of our lives in every area–expanding our capacity for sensual pleasure, opening our hearts to greater intimacy, freeing our creativity, and enriching the life of the spirit. |
|
Tools used in this introductory workshop include meditation, movement, breathing exercises and light massage. Some of the work is in pairs, using each other as mirrors and learning to weave energy together. Unlike our Couples workshops, this workshop is not relationship-based, but it is designed to be useful for both couples and singles, and we recommend that if you are in a partnership you should come with your partner. When working in pairs, Couples are encouraged to work mainly with their own partners, singles to work with different people for each structure. |
| What you will need to Bring |
| 1. Wear soft. loose clothes, as you would for Yoga or T'ai Chi |
| 2. Bring with you a lungi or sarong -- a light, wrap-around cloth which we use for tantric rituals, and for structures involving elements of massage (since a lungi keeps you sufficiently covered to feel comfortable, yet lightly enough clad to massage easy. See the note on nudity in our workshops. |
| 3. Depending on what is available at the centre, you will also usually be asked to bring "nest-building" materials, such as a duvet to lie on, a cushion to sit on, a sheet to protect centre pads from massage oil. You should also bring a blindfold, used in some awakening the senses exercises. |
